Our Goal

Through the Steinway “88 Keys” campaign, residents of patrons have the opportunity to be a part of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church history. The campaign is named for the number of keys on a standard piano. It gives donors a chance to “purchase” one or more keys or make smaller donations toward the overall goal. The Mount Vernon UMC has worked closely with Steinway Piano Gallery, the authorized Steinway piano dealer and a member of the 88 Keys organizing committee, to pick out the best piano model for the performance hall which was determined to be the Steinway & Sons Model B Medium Concert Grand piano.

Each “key” costs $. All donors will be publicly recognized at the end of the campaign.

The Instrument

Steinway & Sons Model A Parlor Grand Piano

At 6 feet 2 inches, this amazing piano sounds like a much larger model. The powerful yet warm sound is the result of an amazing scale design that allows the solid spruce soundboard to freely and efficiently vibrate—thus producing a sound that simply cannot be experienced in any piano except a Steinway. Its slightly longer keys give the player a sense of heightened sensitivity and control. The size of this piano is large enough to satisfy those who demand a full, rich bass—yet small enough to beautifully fit into almost any home.

““With a tone so rich, I would never be afraid of the dark. Steinway is the only and the best””
– Harry Connick Jr.

How it Works

The 88 Keys Program is a fundraising website to help the Mt. Vernon UMC raise money to purchase a Steinway & Sons Model A Grand piano . This project will enable the Mt. Vernon UMC to provide the world’s finest piano to their students, guests artists, and performers of all ages.

To assist us in our initiative to acquire the piano, Steinway & Sons and their exclusive dealer in Houston, Steinway Piano Gallery, has developed this website to give you the opportunity to donate to this worthy cause. Here’s how it works…
